Year End Financial Arrangements 31 March 2019

To assist employers with their submission of the year end data for 31 March 2019 we have identified some of the common issues with the data supplied on previous year end returns.

Submission deadline for 2019

Employers should be aware that regulation 89 of the LGPS Regulations 2013 requires administering authorities to issue an Annual Benefit Statement to all its active members by 31 August following the end of the Scheme year to which it relates.

Please note: a further legal obligation this year is the successful submission and completion of the fund’s actuarial valuation which assess the Fund and individual employers’ assets relative to liabilities.

Failure to meet this statutory requirement constitutes a breach of law which further invokes a legal requirement for the breach to be reported to the Pensions Regulator, exposing both the employer and the administrator to the risk of censure.

The submission of data for the financial year ending 31 March 2019 must therefore be received by Pension Services no later than 19 April 2019, in order to comply with the requirement to issue annual benefits statements within statutory time limits and the timely submission of data to the fund's actuary.

All completed returns should be submitted to our pensions employers inbox via secure file transfer (SFT) as usual.

Please note: Staffordshire County Council has just replaced the secure file transfer software, and you should use the link above rather than any previously saved SFT link you have.
